-Twin Lakes State Park: In the heart of central Virginia, this 548-acre, historic park offers many cultural, environmental and recreational activities. Enjoy swimming, fishing, hiking, boating, and lakeside picnicking, as well as a campground and cabins!

-Horseback Riding: There are several stables near Farmville that provide horseback riding lessons and trail rides. The Farmville area offers miles of horse-riding trails for riders of all skill levels. This is a great activity for all ages and a great way to explore the beautiful Virginia countryside!

-Sailor’s Creek Battlefield State Park: Discover the area’s role in the Civil War with a visit to the Sailor’s Creek Battlefield. The staff present living history programs and events throughout the year and offer tours of the Overton-Hillsman house.

-Wilck’s Lake: Wilck’s Lake is a 150-acre natural area, including a 55-acre lake, that offers abundant opportunities for hiking, birding, wildlife watching, and fishing. Wilk’s Lake also provides a playground for children, picnic shelters and restroom facilities.

High Bridge State Park-High Bridge State Park: High Bridge State Park offers something for everyone, with a total of 40 miles of hiking, bicycle, and bridle trails. The centerpiece of the trail is the majestic High Bridge, which is more than 2,400 feet long and 125 feet above the Appomattox River.
